The Gall Midges of South Tyrol
With regards to gall midges, South Tyrol is among the best-researched regions in Europe.
Marcela Skuhravá and Václav Skuhravý are a married couple who have been studying Gall Midge fauna at selected sites in South Tyrol since 1999. Since the beginning of their surveys, the number of species of Gall Midge known in South Tyrol rose from 53 to 220; 102 species of Gall Midge are new for the fauna of Italy. With regards to gall midges, South Tyrol is thus among the best-researched regions in Europe. The findings of the scientific studies have been published in the scientific periodical "Gredleriana," Vol. 1-3 and 5.
