Determination and Distribution of Annual Buglossoid Species in South TyrolAfter it became known that Buglossoides arvensis, which is distributed through Central Europe, is in fact made up of several taxa, the incidence of this group in South Tyrol was studied.

This project was conducted in co-operation with the Free University of Berlin and supported with molecular-genetic investigations. It was based upon an examination of recent and historical herbal materials as well as cultivated plants. It resulted in the confirmation of three taxa – B. arvensis, B. incrassata subsp. leithneri and B. incrassata subsp. incrassata (ZIPPEL & CLERMONT 2003) – for South Tyrol. The findings have been published in volume 3 of the publication "Gredleriana" (Zippel & Wilhalm 2003).
