Until recently, South Tyrol was one of the few regions of Central Europe where no Red List of endangered plants were available. This gap was filled, at least for the vascular plants, in 2006.

After it became known that Buglossoides arvensis, which is distributed through Central Europe, is in fact made up of several taxa, the incidence of this group in South Tyrol was studied.
